• The Story City Industry and School Collaboration team scheduled visits from American Packaging, Bethany Life, Eby, Ryerson’s, and Winfield to Roland-Story High School. Representatives from each company gave a presentation to all juniors as a part of Mrs. Hovick’s Job/Life Preparation Class. GRS and Indoshell are scheduled in April. The school visits are followed with a site visit to each of the companies by the students. The school and site visits are a valuable experience for students to learn more about career opportunities in our community.

• Kindergarten classes learned about ants with the help of a naturalist from the Story County Conservation program. They learned about the life cycle of ants and the different jobs an ant might have in the ant colony. They even got to pretend they were ants! Ask a kindergartener what his/her job was in the colony!

• In Mrs. Larson’s Foods class, students have been learning how to calculate the cost of a recipe and determine a menu price. This is perfect for showing how math is used in a business setting.

• Congratulations to Mr. Taylor on being named Iowa’s Agriculture Teacher of the Year. Mr. Taylor was nominated for this honor by his peers. Roland-Story is proud of you, Mr. Taylor!

• Athletes at the middle school are ready to put this winter behind them and start looking forward to track season. Sign-up sheets are in the principal’s office at the middle school, and interested 7th and 8th grade girls and boys are encouraged to sign-up!

• Mr. Calvert’s humanities class just finished creating music videos over the novel Dante’s Inferno. The videos were very entertaining, and students did a great job! In Mr. Calvert’s World History Class, students just got done doing a "Travel Asia" project where they planned a trip of their own to any country in the region. Each student looked up 5 historical sites to visit and 5 typical vacations sites.
