Addisen Popp, age 11, of Roland competed in the Heritage Youth Piano Contest at the Iowa State Fair in Pioneer Hall on Monday, August 12, 2013. The competition was open to youth age 5 to 16. This was Addisen’s second time competing in the contest. Last year she competed and won a 3rd Place ribbon. This year she competed against 19 other participants and received a 1st Place Blue Ribbon. She played "Big Earl’s Honky-Tonk Blues" by Eric Baumgartner, and received a 1st Place Blue Ribbon. After the competition she was interviewed by WOI-TV, Channel 5 for a story, which aired August 13, 2013.
Addisen is a piano student of Emily Anderson of Story City and has been playing piano for over three years. She is also a vocal student of Danny Ellis at Ames Music Studio. She particularly enjoys playing and singing whenever she gets the opportunity. Addisen frequently performs piano and vocal pieces for Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland.
