The Annual Midnight Madness road race was held on Saturday, July 13 in Ames, in conjunction with the opening of the 2013 Iowa Games competition. Kent Meier of Story City came in first in his age group (45-49) in the 10K race and also finished second in his age group in both the 5K race and the 15K combined. The start and finish took place in downtown Ames. The course was a 5K loop through various parts of the city.
Other participants from Roland and Story City included: Mark Jackson, Lars Skaar, Christopher Jackson, Chris Feil, Cathy Narigon, Teri Theile, Diane Scott, Brenda Rhoad, Taylor Schwartz, Audrey Schwartz, Andrea Schwartz, Regan Schwartz, Bill Moore, Kyla Moore, Angela Schwartz, Trevor Schwartz, Ella Sirna, Nate Warwick, Robin Hink, John Narigon and Shanon McKinely, all of Story City; Dakota Rusher, Shane Clouser, Dave Wakefield, Casey Gries, Britney Wakefield, Kylie Tjernagel, Jennifer Tjernagel, Tina Clouser and Angie Pickering, all of Roland.
Nearly 1500 participants took part in the annual race. The Iowa Games continued in Ames this past weekend (July 20-21) and will conclude this weekend (July 27-28).
