On Thursday, March 14, the Roland-Story National Honor Society held its induction ceremony for this year’s new members. The National Honor Society, established in 1921, is an organization to recognize outstanding high school students and was founded by Dr. Edward Rynearson. It was founded with four main purposes, "to create enthusiasm for scholarships, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character." Forty-three accomplished students from the Roland-Story school district were selected based on those four qualities and have already shown determination to be successful in character, academics, and community involvement and will be expected to continue to excel in those areas.
The 43 new inductees include:
Senior inductees - Brody Concannon, Jacob Dedic, Colton Finley, Ben Gerdes, Mariah Keech, Kylee Manzer, Tami Rouse, Claire Sherman.
Junior inductees - Trent Elliott, Anna Halstead, Kane Hassebrock, Anna Himan, MacKenzie Jarvis, Nick Lage, Jordann Middendorf, Erin Nuetzman, Schyler Polaski, Alex Urbanek, Hannah Whipple, Matthew White.
Sophomore inductees - Madison Aukes, Jesslyn Coghlan (Historian-2013-2014), Bridget Concannon, Alexis Crutchfield, Eden Dewald, Jerald Fritz, Brittany Hammes, Lauren Himan, Bryce Holmgren, Cathy Narigon (Treasurer-2013-2014), Taylor Olson, Erin Power, Andrew Schlatter, Emily Seydell, Hope Sievers, Josiah Soderstrum, Zach Tryon, Matt Valen, Megan Wellik.
