Sons of Norway Kong Sverre Lodge held its July event with the program "Ole and Martha Come to Story City" with a room full of members and guests. Dr. Peter Tjernagel Harstad and Prof. Mark Harstad presented an illustrated presentation on Norwegian immigration in the mid-19th century explaining how immigrants climbed the "agricultural ladder" to become established land-owning farmers. The speakers told the story of their grandparents, Ole and Martha, coming to this area from Norway. Sons of Norway events are open to all interested in learning more about Norwegian heritage and culture and guests are always welcome.
