Roland Cemetery Association’s annual meeting


The Roland Cemetery Association will hold its Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 8, at 9 a.m. at the cemetery building. Election of officers and financial activity reports will be given. All lot owners are encouraged to attend.

The Story City American Legion is holding a taco dinner tonight from 5:30-7 p.m.


Live Healthy 5K Run


Spring is officially here, and so is the Live Healthy 5K Run! The run/walk will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 8. It’s not too late to register and join the GCC for Live Healthy Day. If you’re not a runner, no problem just come and walk! Bring the kids down too for their own 1K beginning at 9 a.m.


Tickets are available online at www.livehealthyiowa.org. Live Healthy 5K packets will be available Friday, April 7, at Town and Country Insurance from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.


Golf meeting


The River Bend Golf Course Board will meet on Wednesday, April 12, at 5:45 p.m. at the clubhouse.


School concerts


The fourth-grade music concert will be held Tuesday, April 11, at 7 p.m. at the Roland-Story High School auditorium.


The kindergartners and first-graders will hold their concerts on Thursday, April 13, at the high school auditorium. The kindergarten will begin at 6:45 p.m. and the first-graders at 7:30 p.m.


PTO Can/Bottle Recycling Day


Elementary and middle school students will be holding their next Can/Bottle Recycling Day on Saturday, April 8. Funds raised will be used to pay for pre-kindergarten to eighth-grade field trips and other support of Roland-Story schools. Donations can be dropped off north of the Story Community Center at 503 Elm Avenue by 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 8. If you have a large pick up or special request, please call Tami at 515-451-0537.

One-room schoolhouse program


Laura Ingalls Wilder enthusiast Sarah Uthoff present the program “A Day in a One-Room School” on Saturday, April 8, at 11 a.m. at the Roland Public Library. The event is free and open to the public.


Utility board meeting


The Board of Trustees of the Story City Municipal Electric Utility will hold its next regular board meeting on Monday, April 10, at 4 p.m. in the board room at the light plant, 505 Market Ave.


Play cards


On Friday, April 7, at 1 p.m., at the Story City Community Center people age 55 and over are invited to play bridge club and/or the card game “Hand and Foot.” No reservations or charge required, but a snack to share is appreciated.


Fellowship luncheon


On Wednesday, April 12, a Fellowship Luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. at the Story City Community Center. The cost is $4 per person age 55 and over. Menus can be picked up at the community center. Reservations can be made by calling Ruby Olson at 515-733-9278.


Story Theater


The No. 1 animated hit “Boss Baby” will be held over at the Story Theater in Story City this Friday, Saturday, Sunday, April 7, 8, 9, at 7 p.m., with special matinees Saturday and Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Admission is only $4 and it’s rated PG.
