• Are you spring cleaning? The Middle School Library would like you to consider donating items for their upcoming MakerSpace. They are in need of items such as Lincoln Logs, Legos, Erector Sets, K’Nex, knitting needles, crochet hooks, embroidery floss, loom for making pot holders and hats. These items can be dropped off at the Middle School Office.


• In Mrs. Holmes’ 7th math, students have started getting into the geometry unit and are being great learners! They were even finding the surface area of their favorite cereal boxes in class!


• Mrs. D-Ferrell’s Language Arts II is reading every sophomore’s favorite novel, “A Separate Peace.” After reading designated chapters, the students meet in small groups to discuss essential questions like “why do people do bad things?”


• In the elementary library, students are finding interesting information in reference books. Did you know that it’s illegal to read a comic book while riding in the car in Norman, Okla.?!


• Eleven sixth-grade students traveled to Madrid, Iowa, for the Central Iowa 6th Grade Honor Band on Thursday, March 30. These students worked hard on their honor band music and were excited to have the opportunity to perform with students from around Central Iowa! Students participating were: Mara Spence, Ellie Thompson, Carly Halstead, Libbie Johnson, Ben Greenfield, Amber Taylor, Capri Cory, Rhianna Koppes, Dillon Lettow, Alynn Solberg and Aaliyah Selby. The Roland-Story sixth-grade band will have its Spring Concert on Monday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the middle school gym.


• The 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade classes reached their Iowa Assessment goals set by Mrs. Hartzler, RS Elementary School Principal. As a result, the students all got an extra 30 minute recess for their hard work!
