The Roland Public Library is holding a Painted Chair Silent Auction. There are 11 chairs on display at the library that have all been painted in the theme of a children’s or young adult book.

Bidding starts at $25 per chair, and the library will be taking bids through April 30. All proceeds from the auction will go to the library to help with the back room renovation.

“Some of the chairs were painted by Roland-Story fine arts students, and some were painted by members of the community,” said Laura Urbanek, Roland library director.

Themes for the chairs include: The Wizard of Oz, Pokemon, Harry Potter, Matilda, LEGOs, Duck for President, The Lorax, The Cat in the Hat, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and the Minions.

Photos of all 11 chairs will be posted on the Story City Herald website. For more information or to place a bid, call the library at (515) 388-4086.
