Memorial Day luncheon
The annual Memorial Day luncheon will be served at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland on Monday, May 29, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., following the cemetery observance. The dinner includes beef burgers, beans, chips, pie and drink. Free will donations will be accepted. Carry-outs will be available. All are welcome.
The Roland Museum is having a cleaning day, and volunteers are needed to help with the work. Cleaning day will be May 27, from 9 to 11 a.m.
Ice cream social
The Roland Museum is hosting an ice cream social on Sunday, May 28, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
On Friday, May 26, at 1 p.m., at the Story City Community Center people age 55 and over are invited to play bridge club and/or the card game “Hand and Foot.” No reservations or charge required, but a snack to share is appreciated.
On Wednesday, May 31, a Fellowship Luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. at the Story City Community Center. It will be “Fifth Wednesday Pizza.” The cost is $4 per person age 55 and over. Menus can be picked up at the community center. Reservations can be made by calling Ruby Olson at 515-733-9278.
The heart-warming film “Gifted,” starring Chris Evans and Octavia Spencer, will be shown this Friday, Saturday, Sunday, May 26, 27, 28, at the historic Story Theater in Story City. Showtimes are each evening at 7 p.m., with a special Saturday matinee at 4:30 p.m. (There will be no Sunday afternoon matinee this weekend.) Admission is only $4 and it’s rated PG-13.
