The Republican Party of Story County announced recently that Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) will be the keynote speaker for the seventh annual Judge Joseph Story Dinner. This special dinner will take place at Gatherings, 1024 Sixth St. in Nevada, on Friday, July 7, with doors opening and a VIP reception at 5 p.m. The dinner will begin at 6 p.m.

“Sen. Ben Sasse was elected to the United States Senate in 2014 and has quickly become one of the rising stars of the Republican Party,” said Brett Barker, Story County GOP chairman. “He campaigned tirelessly on a common-sense platform of restoring the Constitution to its rightful place and encouraging a more constructive politics where every public official works to make the American dream achievable for every family.”

“We are thrilled to give Iowa Republicans a chance to hear from Senator Sasse,” Barker said. “In a time of hyper-partisanship, Sen. Sasse’s thoughtful and insightful straight talk on real issues is refreshing.”

The dinner is an annual tradition to celebrate Judge Joseph Story. Judge Story served on the U.S. Supreme Court from 1811-1845 and is the namesake of Story County.
