Pie and Ice Cream Social
A Scandinavian Pie and Ice Cream Social with sandwich line and bake sale will be held Friday, June 2, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.(until sold out), at Grace United Methodist Church, 624 Elm, Story City. Sandwich line will offer pulled pork sandwiches, chips and pickle spear. Wonderful homemade pies, ice cream, coffee and lemonade will be available, plus delicious bake sale items.
Class of 1971
The Roland-Story Class of ‘71 will have a get-together during Scandinavian Days weekend. The event will be held Saturday, June 3, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Carousel Lanes.
The Story City swimming pool is hosting a community open house on Friday, June 2, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
The Story City Historical Society will sponsor a special presentation of “Celebrating the Songs of WWI” with Sylvia Munsen on Sunday, June 4, at 2:30 p.m. in the Carriage House Museum (619 Grand Avenue, Story City). Follow the history of the war through viewing sheet music covers and join in singing some of the tunes such as “Smiles,” “Over There,” Ja-Da,” It’s Long, Long Way to Tipperary” and “For Me and My Gal.” This presentation is in conjunction with a special exhibit on WWI at the Carriage House Museum which opened in April for the centennial of the war. The event is free and open to the public.
‘The Addams Family’ at Story Theater
Tickets for Judge Story’s Theatrical Troupe’s Scandinavian Days production of “The Adams Family” are on sale at the Story City Greater Chamber Connection. You can purchase tickets for $15 at the GCC Office (524 Broad Street) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by calling the chamber office at 515-733-4214. Performances will be June 1-3 and 10 at 7 p.m. and June 4 and 11 at 1:30 p.m. at the historic Story Theater in Story City. Remaining tickets will also be available at the door prior to each performance. There is no movie this weekend.
