100th birthday party for Kinne
A party is being held to celebrate Dr. Frances Bartlett Kinne’s 100th birthday. A reception will be held on Tuesday, July 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Comfort Inn in Story City, hosted by the Bertha Bartlett Public Library and the Story City Historical Society. Story County Conservation program at Roland Library
Story County Conservation will be presenting “Nature's Engineers” at the Roland Public Library on Tuesday, July 11, at 1 p.m. This presentation about American beavers is for children in kindergarten and up. Please contact the library with any questions at 515-388-4086.

Blank canvases are on sale at the Greater Chamber Connection for $10 each in the second annual 2x2xWho? artistic fundraiser. Purchase a 2-by-2-foot canvas and paint, stencil or decorate them to fit the theme “Iowa Nice: What Inspires You About Iowa?” Return the completed artwork by Aug. 1 to have them added to the public art exhibit downtown. Art will be on display during the month of August and people will be able to vote for their favorites during the Progressive Dinner on Aug. 16.
On Friday, July 7, at 1 p.m., at the Story City Community Center people age 55 and over are invited to play bridge club and/or the card game “Hand and Foot.” No reservations or charge required, but a snack to share is appreciated.
On Wednesday, July 12, a Fellowship Luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. at the Story City Community Center. The cost is $4 per person age 55 and over. Menus can be picked up at the community center. Reservations can be made by calling Ruby Olson at 515-733-9278.
The Board of Trustees of the Story City Municipal Electric Utility will hold its next regular board meeting on Monday, July 10, at 4 p.m. in the board room at the light plant, 505 Market Ave.
