Roland-Story agriculture education students and FFA members have again undertaken running a community garden with the produce being donated to the Loaves and Fishes food pantry in Story City.
This is a student-run enterprise in cooperation with WindField Solutions, Farm Credit Services of America and Land O’Lakes Inc.
The garden is located on WinField Solutions property and the FFA chapter has received donations from Key Cooperative, Land O’Lakes and FCS of America which have allowed them to purchase various seeds, construct a garden shed and other equipment to assist with the management of the garden.
The garden, now in its fourth year, is approximately 3.5 acres in size and has a wide variety of vegetables planted. Each week, a different set of students are in charge of the management and weeding of the garden.
