21st Annual Story County 4-H Fair Association Ribbon Sale
Calling all families, businesses and friends for the Story County 4-H Association Ribbon Sale! For the past 21 years, Story County has had a ribbon auction to take the place of the traditional livestock auction. Bidders support the youth by bidding on their ribbons, and successful bidders will be recognized with a plaque. The Ribbon Auction will take place on Wednesday, July 26, at 6:30 p.m. Ten percent of the ribbon sale will go back to the 4-H program. This is a great way to show your support for the youth of Story County!
Pork Producers Youth Grilling Contest

Rabbit Hopping and Guinea Pig Agility
Guinea pig agility is new to the Story County Youth Fair and is in conjunction with the returning Rabbit Hopping show. 4-H’ers have been practicing with their rabbits and guinea pigs every Wednesday in June to prepare for the 2017 fair. The show starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 23, in the Dueland Pavilion. This new contest will be fun to watch, do not miss it!
The bake sale is on July 19 in Christy 4-H Hall. 4-H’ers food and nutrition exhibits are for sale from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Support Story County 4-H Leadership Team with the purchase of a yummy treat!
The Inspiration Program committee has been a part of the Story County Fair since 1979, and was established by John Hattery. Hattery had a love for children and a compassion for people. He wanted the youth of Story County to grasp onto the idea that they were made to achieve a purpose in life, and to set high goals.
This year’s Inspiration Program is on Thursday, July 20, at 7 p.m., in Tope Auditorium in Nevada. Share the Fun will kick of the evening with our 4-H’ers performing acts of singing, dancing and other musical talents. Following Share the Fun, we will have our inspirational speaker, Andrew Allen. Allen is the director of Youth Shelter Services (YSS) in Story County. This evening will also include a presentation from the 4-H’ers who attended the Citizen Washington Focus trip (CWF). This trip is a week-long conference held at the National 4-H Center in Washington, D.C. At the conference, youth learn about good citizenship while visiting the historical sites of the nation’s capital. CWF is another event that Hattery made possible for youth to participate in, due to his generous donation to support the delegate’s trips. To round out the evening, our 2017 Story County Fair Queen candidates will be introduced. Join us then on Saturday, July 22, for the Queen Coronation in Dueland Pavillion. We hope to see you at the Inspiration Program!
Meet the Story County Fair Queen candidates for this year! One of these candidates will be chosen as the Story County Fair Queen on July 22. They will also have the opportunity to represent Story County in the Iowa State Fair Queen pageant in August.
