The Story City Farmers’ Market will be held Thursday, July 20, from 4-7 p.m. at South Park, in the grass near the parking lot just off Broad Street. Come out and check out the local vendors to see what locally homegrown and homemade items are available. Red Granite Farm will be there with sweet corn, Silver’s Spoon Bakery with kringla and more, and Goodies to Go will have cookies and bars. Story County Fair
The Story County Fair will be held from Friday, July 21, to Wednesday, July 26, at the Story County Fairgrounds in Nevada. Check the Herald’s website for a schedule of events.
Sweet corn feed
American Legion Post #59 in Story City will hold one of its sweet corn feeds on Monday, July 24, from 6-7:30 p.m. The menu will include a hot dog or a hamburger, sweet corn, fresh cucumber salad and tomatoes for $7. The public is welcome. The Legion is located at 301 Washington.

National Carousel Day
Celebrate National Carousel Day at the Story City Antique Carousel on Tuesday, July 25, at 6 p.m. There will be games, food, fun, and — of course — carousel rides.
Blank canvases are on sale at the Greater Chamber Connection for $10 each in the second annual 2x2xWho? artistic fundraiser. Purchase a 2-by-2-foot canvas and paint, stencil or decorate them to fit the theme “Iowa Nice: What Inspires You About Iowa?” Return the completed artwork by Aug. 1 to have them added to the public art exhibit downtown. Art will be on display during the month of August and people will be able to vote for their favorites during the Progressive Dinner on Aug. 16.
Senior citizen dance
The monthly dance for seniors (age 55 and over) will be Thursday, July 20, from 7-19 p.m. at the Story City Community Center.
On Friday, July 21, at 1 p.m., at the Story City Community Center people age 55 and over are invited to play bridge club and/or the card game “Hand and Foot.” No reservations or charge required, but a snack to share is appreciated.
On Wednesday, July 26, a Fellowship Luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. at the Story City Community Center. The cost is $4 per person age 55 and over. Menus can be picked up at the community center. Reservations can be made by calling Ruby Olson at 515-733-9278.
