Twenty-eight members of the Roland-Story FFA chapter recently competed in the 2017 Story County Fair in Nevada.

Nathan Faga, Jackson Sterle and Sam Skaar competed in the Pork Grilling Contest sponsored by the Story County Pork Producers and presented to the judges. Roland-story had three different teams enter, and the R-S team of Jacob Sterle, Brayden Lester and Max Halstead finished first in the contest.

Other chapter members who participated with livestock were: Brayden Lester, Jackson Sterle, Jacob Sterle, Max Petzenhauser, Claire Petzenhauser, Matthew Hougland and Max Halstead, while 19 other FFA members from the chapter competed in the areas of photography, agri-sciences, food and nutrition, and woodworking.

In addition, Roland-Story participated in the Livestock Judging contest and finished as the third place team, with members Brayden Lester, Jacob Sterle and Jackson Sterle.

Members are currently preparing for competition at the Iowa State Fair where livestock, photography, horticultural crops, as well as members participating in the Agricultural Demonstrations division where their topic will deal with DNA extraction.
