Evening Prairie Walk
Join Lloyd Crim on Thursday, Aug. 24, at 7 p.m. for a prairie walk at the largest prairie remnant in Story County, Doolittle Prairie. See rare prairie flora that changes each month and learn the history of central Iowa prairies from a prairie enthusiast. Long pants, sturdy shoes and bug spray are recommended. Bring your camera for beautiful photographs! Doolittle Prairie is located 1.25 miles south of E-18 on 560th Avenue. This program is free and no registration is required.
Tonight from 5:30-7 p.m. is taco night at the Story City American Legion.
Business After Hours
Dinners by Dawn, 324 Broad St., is hosting a Business After Hours party on Tuesday, Aug. 29, from 5-7 p.m., celebrating the promotion of two employees, Shelle and Sara. Stop by for some shooters, skewers and socializing. If you’re a customer, bring your idea for a burger or panini and submit it; if it’s chosen, you will have it named after you and will be on the menu as a special in September. If you are a business owner, bring your business card and be entered into a drawing for a free lunch.
On Friday, Aug. 25, at 1 p.m., at the Story City Community Center people age 55 and over are invited to play bridge club and/or the card game “Hand and Foot.” No reservations or charge required, but a snack to share is appreciated.
On Wednesday, Aug. 30, a Fellowship Luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. at the Story City Community Center. The cost is $4 per person age 55 and over. Menus can be picked up at the community center. Reservations can be made by calling Ruby Olson at 515-733-9278.
