The Story Festival wrapped up its final event Saturday night, Sept. 16, at the scary stories program, drawing the name of the winner of the 1918 edition of Ding Darling’s book “Aces and Kings.” Arlin T. Branhagen, of Story City and Decorah, was the proud recipient of the rare first edition book. Branhagen is pictured with Library Director Kolleen Taylor. The Story City GCC, Story City Historical Society and the Bertha Bartlett Public Library worked with volunteers and local business sponsors to offer this event.

More than 150 people attended the presentation on Thursday night when the “Story Festival and More” kicked off, with Eric Hanson introduced by Gloria Sampson, followed by storyteller Darrin Crow, and wrapped up with the presentation of Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist Ding Darling portrayed by Tom Milligan.
