Story County Auditor Lucy Martin announces that absentee voting for the Nov. 7 city election has begun in the auditor’s office.


All eligible voters residing within the cities of Ames, Cambridge, Collins, Colo, Gilbert, Huxley, Kelley, Maxwell, McCallsburg, Nevada, Roland, Slater, Story City and Zearing may vote at the Story County Auditor’s Office. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Auditor’s Office is located on the second floor of the Story County Administration Building, 900 Sixth St., Nevada.


Voters can request a mailed absentee ballot by filling out the “Official Iowa Absentee Ballot Request Form.” Fillable forms are available online at www.storycountyiowa.gov/elections.


Important Dates to Remember


Friday, Oct. 27: Voter pre-registration deadline. Following the deadline, election day registration rules apply. Completed registration forms must be in the Auditor’s Office by 5 p.m.


Friday, Nov. 4: Deadline to request a mailed absentee ballot.


Monday, Nov. 6: Last day to vote absentee in-person (except Cambridge and Colo voters). Mailed ballots must be postmarked no later than Nov. 6 to be considered.


Tuesday, Nov. 7: Voters from Cambridge and Colo may vote in the Auditor’s Office from 8-11 a.m.


Tuesday, Nov. 7: Election Day. Polls open 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. (Exception: Cambridge and Colo polls open at noon).
