NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) of Central Iowa offers several opportunities for meetings each month. The meetings are free of charge. The schedule includes:


Thursdays, Oct. 12, 19, 26 and Nov. 2: The NAMI Connections peer support group is held on Thursdays from 2-3:30 p.m. Come hear from others who are also learning how to live in recovery with a mental illness.


Wednesdays, Oct. 11, 18, 25 and Nov. 1 and 8: A second weekly NAMI Connections peer support group will be held Wednesday evenings, 6:30-8 p.m. Come hear from others who are also learning how to live in recovery with a mental illness.


Tuesday, Oct. 17: NAMI Central Iowa in cooperation with the Ames Public Library will show the film “Of Two Minds” in observance of Mental Illness Awareness week. Join us in the library’s Farwell T. Brown auditorium at 6:30 p.m., followed by an opportunity to ask questions of a panel of experts.


Thursday, Oct. 26: NAMI of Central Iowa will hold its monthly support group for family members of individuals living with mental illness at 7 p.m. No registration is required.
