• Mrs. Bauman and 4B welcome Zach Zeiss to Roland Story. Mr. Zeiss will be student teaching at R-S for eight weeks. He is a student at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. Welcome to Roland-Story, Mr. Zeiss!


• Mr. Calvert’s Contemporary U.S. Issues class is researching individual topics on how cultural factors influence society. Some of the topics include Hollywood, Sports (kneeling for National Anthem), and Gender Gap. Students are creating their own arguments on the issues and presenting in class.


• Students in the elementary library celebrated Halloween with Librarian Mrs. Morris. They read fun Halloween books and even put music to one of them. They were loud and happy!


• Middle School musicians have certainly had a successful fall! Six students were selected to be a part of the SCIBA Honor Band. Those students are: Rachel Elsberry, Ally Ringsby, Kayley Birkland, Capri Cory, Clayton Reitano and Amber Taylor. Four students were selected to the Opus Honor Choir – Aubrey Britten, Madelyn Risdal, Macy Friest and Jacob Hennager. Congratulations to these fine musicians and to their directors, Ms. Bader, Band, and Mr. Johnson, Vocal.


• All 46 students in Mrs. Brouwer’s Foods and Nutrition classes earned their Food Handlers certification, a nationally accredited program that teaches food safety practices that can be applied in the food industry and at home. Congrats to these students!
