“Dear Santa” is the theme of the Brandi and Matt Triggs home on Summit Drive in Story City. Brandi has a large collection of Santas, both old and new and Santa themed décor. You are welcomed into this spacious home where the Triggs live and relax after their very busy lives. Brandi is the owner and stylist at Impressions and Matt is the owner and president of Absolute Group, a group of four construction companies, Absolute Concrete, Greentech of Iowa, Gotar Excavation and Absolute Technology. Their son, Cooper, is a third-grader at Roland-Story Elementary School. The family is joined by two English bulldogs named Owen and Otie.

The large open concept main floor has a fireplace with a rustic mantel piece from Broad Street Market and marble subway tile with rustic wood surround. A farmhouse styled dining table with bench and comfy chairs adjoins the cozy kitchen. The dark wood kitchen cabinets are enhanced by more subway tiled marble and solid surface rustic brown countertops. Brandi likes to shop locally for her décor enjoying The Tin Chandelier and the Corner Store at NuCara Pharmacy and other antique and decorating shops. A collection of Red Wing crocks is from auctions that Matt and Brandi have enjoyed in the past.

The Triggs have done some redecorating and remodeling since they have moved into their home. The laundry area is a recent remodel with wonderful oak cabinets and the adjoining backdoor mudroom area. Wainscoting, a built in bench with cubbies and baskets organize and beautify this area.

The main floor also hosts the large master bedroom with its beautiful farmhouse styled Amish made furniture. This includes a large walk in closest and remodeled master bathroom complimented with new tiled floors, shower and a quaint copper sink. Patio doors crown the bedroom with entry onto a large beautiful back yard and deck. A stone retaining wall, tree-lined lot and view of a farm field reminds Brandi of her parents’ farm in northeast Iowa.

A large open stairway leads to the loft area, which Cooper enjoys, with a cowboy western theme and a cowhide chair and ottoman. Cooper’s bedroom is baseball themed with his own woodsy Christmas tree. Next-door is another bedroom, which Cooper uses as his game room with couch and bistro set. Another bonus room here is called the Granny suite where grandparents and other guests are most comfortable. An antique dresser from Brandi’s youth complements this room.

The basement family room is a gathering point for family activities with its Iowa State décor. The Christmas tree there is in red and gold to reflect the family’s ISU spirit. A special Santa sits in its fur coat. Matt’s mother has given the family a collection of Santas all adorned in coats made from the fur coats of a special grandmother in the family. Lots of greenery, berries and pinecones, stylist metal decorations adorn this home with its rustic woods and grey earth toned walls.
