The city of Story City recently released a list of the city’s accomplishments and noteworthy events in 2017.

n Celebrated, along with Mary Greeley Medical Center, the 10-year anniversary of the Rec Center.

n Celebrated the opening of the new swimming pool where admissions for the season totaled 12,867 compared to previous years where admissions ranged between 5,500 and 6,800.

n Welcomed new Council Member Chris Crutchfield and appointed Matt Sporleder as the new Police Chief.

n Completed construction of the extension of Holm Avenue in support of American Packaging Corporation’s $44.3 million expansion that included a 96,000-square foot addition and 94 new jobs.

n Completed the reconstruction of Broad Street from Grand Avenue to approximately 360 feet east of Hillcrest Avenue and from Garfield Avenue to the railroad tracks.

n Completed construction of the storm and sanitary sewer project which included the replacement of storm and sanitary sewer mains in the alley south of Broad Street from Grand Avenue to Elm Avenue.

n Started the first phase of improvements to the North Park.
