Kumla Feed


The Sons of the Legion are hosting a Kumla Feed at the Legion Hall on Saturday, Jan. 13. The dinner will start at 5 p.m. and will last until it’s sold out.


J-Term presentations


Roland-Story High School students will be presenting their J-Term projects today (Wednesday, Jan. 10) from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The event is open to the public.


Annual Get Together


The GCC and EDC’s Annual Get Together is Thursday, Jan. 18, at the Story City Community Center. A social time will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. and a program will be from 6:30-7 p.m. The event is free and hors d’oeurves will be provided. It is BYOB. Christian concert in Ellsworth


Christian recording artist and worship leader Jillian Jones from Mankato, Minn., will be performing in concert at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth on Sunday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. A free-will offering will be taken at the concert that day. The church is located at 1629 Dewitt St. in Ellsworth.


Bingo


This event has been cancelled: There’s a Bingo game in the upstairs of the American Legion Hall in Story City tonight (Jan. 10) from 6:30-8 p.m. The blackout jackpot is $140.


Fly By Night


The Story City American Legion presents Fly By Night Entertainment DJ Travis on Friday, Jan. 12, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.


Stitch ‘n’ Knit


Stitch ‘n’ Knit meets at Bertha Bartlett Public Library every Friday at 10 a.m. If you knit, crochet or stitch anything by hand, come enjoy an hour of fellowship with other crafters. Remember to bring a project to keep your hands busy!


Utility meeting


The Board of Trustees of the Story City Municipal Electric Utility will hold its next regular board meeting on Monday, Jan. 15, at 4 p.m. in the board room at the light plant, 505 Market Ave.


Play cards


On Friday, Jan. 12, at 1 p.m., at the Story City Community Center, people age 55 and over are invited to play bridge club and/or the card game “Hand and Foot.” No reservations or charge required, but a snack to share is appreciated.


Fellowship luncheon


On Wednesday, Jan. 17, a Fellowship Luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. at the Story City Community Center. The cost is $4 per person age 55 and over. Menus can be picked up at the community center. Reservations can be made by calling Ruby Olson at 515-733-9278.


Story Theater


The mystery hit “Murder on the Orient Express” will be presented Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Jan. 12, 13, 14, at the Story Theater in Story City. Showtimes are each evening at 7 p.m., with special matinees Saturday and Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Admission is only $4 and it’s rated PG-13. Trivia Night


It’s time to sharpen your trivia skills and get your team together! The EDC’s Trivia Night will be held Friday, Feb. 9. The theme is “Famous Groups and Duos.” It’s a great opportunity to win cash for your favorite non-profit or charity and have fun doing it. Teams can consist of as many as eight players. Rosy Cheeks run


The 19th annual Rosy Cheeks Fun Run/Walk will be held Feb. 3 at 9 a.m. Early bird registrations of $25 are now through Jan. 15. From Jan. 16 to race day, registration will be $30. The fee includes a long-sleeve T-shirt and pancake breakfast. The breakfast will be $3 for non-participants. Contact Story City Parks and Rec department for registration information.
