The Executive Committee of the Story City Greater Chamber Connection announced Friday that it has promoted Jay Wilson to the position of executive director of the GCC.
Wilson has been employed as the assistant director. Executive Director Abby Huff recently announced that she is resigning and has accepted a position in Cedar Rapids, where she will be involved with historic preservation.
“This week will be my final week here at the Greater Chamber Connection,” Huff wrote in this week’s GCC newsletter. “In the last almost two years I have had the honor of being apart of this wonderful and unique community. I am proud of what has been accomplished here in the last couple of years and also the support I have had while in this position. It has been truly a wonderful experience and I wish Story City all the luck in the future!”
Wilson will take over the position on Feb. 12.
“The Executive Committee along with the City and EDC feel that his hiring will promote stability, longevity and experience,” GCC Board President Marian Olive wrote in a press release. “We will be posting the position of assistant director as soon as possible and if you have any thoughts on that job description, please contact Jay.
“And, of course, any committee decisions in the next week, should now include Jay. I hope you can all join me in congratulating Jay and also offer to help in this transition in any way possible. Although we are very sad to see Abby leave us, she is leaving us in a great place and trained us well. Thank you Abby and welcome Jay.”
