Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig today announced that he will be making stops in Franklin and Story counties on Friday, April 6.
Naig will speak to participants in the Leadership Iowa program at Sukup Manufacturing in Sheffield, tour Franklin County Electric Coop in Hampton and then tour Key Cooperative in Roland.
The details of the visits are:
Franklin County – 11:15 a.m., speak to Leadership Iowa participants, Sukup Manufacturing, 1555 255th St., Sheffield
Franklin County – 1:30 p.m., tour Franklin County Electric Coop, 1560 US 65, Hampton
Story County – 3:30 p.m., tour Key Cooperative, 13585 620th Ave., Roland
Naig was appointed by Gov. Kim Reynolds to succeed Bill Northey as Iowa Secretary of Agriculture on March 5. Prior to that, he had served as Iowa Deputy Secretary of Agriculture for Northey since September 2013.
As secretary, he is committed to leading efforts to protect consumers, expanding economic opportunities for Iowans and advocating in Iowa and around the globe on behalf of the hard-working men and women who keep us fed and fueled, according to a press release from his office.
Naig grew up on a family farm in the northwest corner of the state near Cylinder, Iowa, and he continues to be involved in the operation today.
