One man is dead after he lost control of his car and crashed into a utility pole on U.S. Highway 69 near the Story and Hamilton county line Sunday.


Chad L. Chelsvig, 34, of Iowa Falls, was driving a 1964 Chevy Nova northbound on U.S. 69 at the 100th Street intersection just after 3 p.m. when, according to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, he left the road and struck a utility pole. The car came to rest on the driver’s side. Chelsvig was not wearing a seatbelt, the report showed.


According to the report, Chelsvig was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, where he died from his injuries.


No one else was in the car at the time.


The investigation is continuing.
