Roland-Story Agriculture Education students and FFA members have again undertaken running a community garden with the produce being donated to the Loaves and Fishes food pantry in Story City and Food at First in Ames.

This is a student-run enterprise in cooperation with WindField United and Land O’Lakes, Inc.

The garden is located on WinField United property and the FFA chapter has received donations from Land O’Lakes which have allowed them to purchase various seeds, transplants and other equipment to assist with the management of the garden.

The garden is approximately 3 acres in size and has a wide variety of vegetables planted. Each week, a different set of students are in charge of the management and weeding of the garden.

Last year, nearly 12,000 pounds of produce produced in the garden were donated to area food pantries.
