Broadway actor Stephen Trafton’s performances at this year’s Story City Story! Festival invites listeners to encounter the Bible in a whole new way. Step into the world of the first century Philippians and Colossian churches through imaginative storytelling and audience interaction, culminating in dramatic portrayals of two of Apostle Paul’s most beloved letters. You won’t want to miss these opportunities to see scripture brought to life.
Trafton’s performances at the Story! Festival are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 21 and 22. Encountering Philippians will be presented at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Story Theater, 512 Broad Street. Encountering Colossians is set for Sunday, Sept. 22, at 1 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Tickets for the Saturday performance are $10 and can be purchased at the GCC office. Call 515/733-4214 for more details. Sunday’s performance at Immanuel is free, but a free-will offering will be taken.
Each performance will last approximately 45 minutes, with a question and answer session to follow. To find out more, visit the Story! Festival’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/storyfestivalsc or www.immanuelstorycity.org.
"Stephen helps you feel like you are part of a first-century house church in Philippi or Colssae, listening to one of Paul’s letters being read out loud for the first time," said Pastor Kurt Jensen of Immanuel Lutheran Church. "Paul wrote both of these letters from prison in Rome. You can hear his love and concern for this friends as he confronts the problems they are facing and encourages them to stay focused on Jesus. Stephen’s stunning performances will change the way you hear scripture! Who will you invite to come with you?"
