HISTORICAL SOCIETY WINTER DINNER JANUARY 16
The Story City Historical Society will hold a Winter Dinner and Presentation on Thursday, Jan. 16 at the Carriage House Museum located at 619 Grand Avenue from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A free-will donation soup and chili dinner will be provided, including spicy and mild chili, vegetable beef soup, oyster soup, Norwegian flat bread, and traditional Norwegian desserts. Following the meal we will be showing a television program that originally aired on WOI-TV on March 1, 1960 entitled "TV Schooltime: Landmarks in Iowa History: Story City". Herb Hake visits Story City and the Sheldall Schoolhouse and talks about some of the customs of the Norwegians who settled the area.
STORY CITY LEGION TO HOST STEAK DINNER
The Story City American Legion will be hosting a filet mignon dinner on Saturday, Jan. 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The dinner includes filet mignon or smoked chicken quarter, baked potato, beans, Texas toast, baked onions and salad. Cost is $10 for filet mignon, $8 for smoked chicken. Kids’ meals will also be offered for $3 and includes hot dog, French fries and baked beans.
STORY CITY LEGION BAGS TOURNAMENT
The Story City American Legion will have an indoor bags tournament on Sunday, Jan. 19 beginning at 12:30 p.m. It is a 2-person double elimination tournament and the cost is $10 per team. Please sign up at the legion by Saturday, Jan. 18.
LIVE BAND AT STORY CITY LEGION JANUARY 25
"Jesse and the Medicine Men" will be performing at the Story City American Legion on Saturday, January 25 from 9 p.m. to 12 midnight.
