MEET AND GREET SUPERINTENDENT CANDIDATES

Members of the community in Roland and Story City are encouraged to "Meet and Greet" the remaining two Roland-:Story Superintendent candidates tonight (Wednesday) and tomorrow night (Thursday) from 6:30 to 7:20 p.m. in the High School Commons area. This is an opportunity for residents, business leaders and parents to show our communities’ support towards the candidates and how we will welcome them here if they are chosen.

SONS OF NORWAY TO HOLD MONTHLY MEETING

Sons of Norway Kong Sverre Lodge’s February Event will be held Monday, Feb. 10, at 503 Elm Avenue. The featured program is "Visiting Denmark" by members Marita and Gene Rouse. 6:00 p.m. is social time with a catered dinner at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $5 for members and $10 for guests. Guests are welcome. TO PRESENT CONCERT AT GRACE CHURCH

Faith Sound will present a concert on Sunday, Feb. 9th at 9:15 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Story City. Faith Sound is a musical group from Harlan, Iowa. Members are students (7th-12th grade) from Harlan and surrounding communities. A brunch will follow the concert. A free will offering will benefit the church renovation. Please join us for Ministry of Music by Faith Sound.

ROLAND LIBRARY VALENTINE CELEBRATION

The Roland Public Library will be having a Valentine themed afternoon on Wednesday, February 12th from 1:30-3:00 p.m. This is part of the early school dismissal program. Activities will include BINGO, cookie frosting, and crafts. Ages 5-12 are invited to attend. Please contact the library with any questions you may have about the event.

MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC UTILITY BOARD MEETING

The Board of Trustees of the Story City Municipal Electric Utility will hold their regular monthly board meeting on Monday, Feb. 10, at 4 p.m. in the board room at the light plant, 505 Market Avenue.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY TASTING EVENT FEBRUARY 9

The Story City Historical Society is hosting a tasting event of KaffeGeita coffees and locally made desserts at the Fairview Lodge on Sunday, February 9, from 1-3 p.m. Lucky Kim will be demonstrating a traditional paper cutting craft with a Valentine theme. A large collection of vintage Valentines will also be on display. Plus, live music from local musician Pat Hashman. Tickets are $12 per person or $20 for two. Proceeds benefit the Story City Historical Society. Tickets can be purchased at the Carriage House Museum, GCC Office, or Kaffe Geita.

BETHEL CHURCH CHILI SUPPER FEBRUARY 9

Bethel Lutheran Church in Story City will hold a Chili and Oyster Supper on Sunday, February 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. Menu includes chili, oyster soup, relishes and desserts. Price is $6 for adults, $3 for children under 12. Sponsored by the Bethel Fellowship League. Supplemental funds provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

STORY CITY LEGION KUMLA FEED FEBRUARY 8

The Story City Sons of the American Legion will host a Kumla Feed on Saturday, February 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Story City Legion Hall. All you can eat for $8/person.

R-S MINISTERIAL ASSOCIATION TO HOST AGING SEMINAR

The Roland-Story Ministerial Association and Bethany Life will be hosting seminars on aging issues throughout the month February. The next session, "Caregiving - The Demands and Challenges", will be held Tuesday, February 11, at the Story City Bertha Bartlett Public Library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
