The 19th Annual Senior Variety Show, "Lettuce Entertain You!" will be held Friday, August 16, 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, August 18, 2:00 p.m. at the Ames City Auditorium.

It features over 100 Story County performers who will celebrate aging (and food!) through song, dance, and humor.

Formerly named the Heartland Variety Show, this August community tradition has delighted audiences since 1995, raising over $150,000 for senior projects throughout the county. This year the show is proud to support the Story County Freedom Flight 2013, sending veterans to Washington D.C. in October.

Preceding the performances there will be a special arrival of several Freedom Flight veterans, escorted in Ames Ford cars, from the Ames, Cambridge, Nevada, Slater, and Story City communities. Paul Wierson of Story City and a musical entourage will welcome and interview the veterans as they arrive on Friday night. Mel Crippen of KASI will greet them on Sunday.

Tickets are $10 in advance and are on sale at: Alpha Copies, Ames Ford, Eye Works, Gallery 319, Heartland Senior Services (Ames); Ben Franklin Store (Nevada); and RSVP/Story City Senior Center (Story City). Tickets may be purchased at the door for $12.
