On Wednesday, December 18, the Story Theater Grand Opera House in Story City will be 100 years old! In commemoration of this historic milestone, a special anniversary gala and concert will be held at 7 p.m. Judge Story’s has graciously agreed to present this special show, complete with various musical selections from their past live theater productions. A few local entertainers are also expected to perform as well.
Tickets are now on sale in person at the Story City Herald, 511 Broad, the Story Theater, 512 Broad, the Story City Chamber, 524 Broad, and Norsemen Realty, 602 Broad. Tickets are also available by mail by enclosing a check to: Story Theater Historical Foundation, 512 Broad St., Story City IA 50248.
As this event is a special fundraiser for the Story Theater Historical Foundation and the mandatory digital conversion project that is drawing near, ticket prices are $40 per person or $70 per couple. A pre-performance social gathering will also be held at Dinners by Dawn next door to the theater at 516 Broad beginning at 5:30 p.m. A post-concert celebration, complete with birthday cake and refreshments, will close out the evening. Plenty of memories and recollections of this Story City treasure will undoubtedly be shared by all.
