Ellis J. Anderson, 87, of Story City died April 19, 2017, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services were Saturday April 22, at 2 p.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Burial followed in the Mt. Olive Cemetery near Randall.

Ellis was born on March 26, 1930, in Clarion, to Otto and Pearl (Boynton) Anderson. He served in US Army for two years in Berlin, Germany. He taught vocal music in Ackley, Emmetsburg and Eagle Grove. After retiring from teaching he owned Yantis-Anderson Clothing in Story City. After selling the store, he then worked at US Post Office in Randall.

He was a member of Elim Lutheran Church and directed the choir for many years. He was instrumental in organizing the Randall Fine Arts, which featured Rag Time Music.

He is survived by his sister, Margaret Thompson of Story City and nephews, Bruce (Lori) Thompson, Dennis (Patricia) Thompson both of Jewell, Terry (Linda) Thompson of Story City and Douglas Thompson of Jewell and several grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Soderstrum Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
