Dorothy Jean Twedt Baum, 92, of Union, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at Bethany Life in Story City.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. at the Union Community Church in Union, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family. Dorothy Jean Twedt was born on Aug. 14, 1925, in McCallsburg to Allis “Allison” Leonard Twedt and Mildred Lucille Schauper. She graduated from Zearing High School. On March 15, 1944, Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert Baum in Grundy Center. Dorothy had been employed with Union-Whitten Community Schools as a cook for 20 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Rebecca Lodge, McCallsburg Presbyterian Church and later the Union Community Church.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Karen (Leonard Eakes) Blair of Eagleville, Mo., Sandra (Bud) Trittien of Eldora, Nancy (Jim) Lewis of Colleyville, Texas, Alison (John Underberg) Sly of Union, Robin (Jay) LaVelle of Eldora, Michael Baum of Eldora and Kim (Gary) Youngman of Story City. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren as well as niece Carmela Twedt and cousins Penny Kriegel, El Jean Wildeboer, Stanley Twedt, Steve Twedt and Beth Frohwein.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Robert, parents Mildred and Allison, brother Bob Twedt, sister Karla Fay Twedt Alt, infant brother Alice Twedt Jr. and great-granddaughter Paula Clemente.
