Jeffrey LaVerne Osmundson, 45, of Story City died February 5, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines of spontaneous brain stem bleed. Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 10 at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 9, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City. Burial followed the service in Center Cemetery.

Jeff was born on September 30, 1968 in Nevada, IA to Larry and Letha (Geisler) Osmundson. He married Connie Stevens on May 6, 1995 in Story City.

Jeff is survived by his wife Connie; three sons, Colton of Story City, T.J. (Cassie) Stevens of Wichita Falls, TX, Tanner Stevens of Story City; his parents, Larry (Cindy) Osmundson of Story City, Letha (Dick) DeMoss of Gilbert; one brother, Dave Osmundson of Ellsworth; three sisters, Terri (Matt) Bogenrief of Ames, Heather (Tim) Barber of Story City and Heidi (Paul) Vanden Hull of Ankeny; two grandchildren, Sophia and Chase Stevens; three grandmothers, Lucy Geisler, Irene Chelsvig, Florence Furman; one grandfather, Bill Geisler; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; mother in-law Carol Vekre (Furman); and a host of friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Orene (Fincham) Osmundson and LaVerne Osmundson

Jeff attended elementary at Gilbert and graduated from Roland-Story in 1987. After graduation he started in the work force which included Greenfields Hog Confinement, Putco, Ames Trenching, City of Story City, Jensen Excavation, Jensen Builders before his health began to decline. He also was a member of Story City Volunteer Fire Department.

Jeff enjoyed attending his sons’ sporting events, camping, boating, fishing, his morning visits at the Story City Water Plant and time spent with his faithful companion "Puggles". Jeff was like a second dad to many of Colton’s friends.

Jeff touched many lives in different ways including as an organ donor. He will be missed and loved by all.
