Grace Lucille Orcutt, 86, of Story City died November 20, 2013 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames encircled by her family. Memorial services were held Tuesday November 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, November 25th at Timberland Village in Story City.

Grace was born on June 6, 1927 on the family farm near Winterset, Iowa to Louise (Butler) and Thurman Clark. She graduated from DeSoto High School in 1944 and moved to Des Moines. She met Duane Orcutt on a blind date and they were married at the First Methodist Church in Des Moines on September 12, 1948. She and Duane lived in Story City the majority of their 48 years of marriage and raised their children, Tony, Elizabeth, Brian, and Mary. They purchased the Story City Cleaners from Duane’s parents and ran the shoppe until December 2011. Grace and Duane were dedicated to their customers and often went above and beyond to take care of them. She was well known for clothing repairs and making drapes and she worked five and a half days a week till she was 84. Grace was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for 65 years, taught Sunday school, and was a member of the United Methodist Women. After ill health forced her to retire, Grace lived at Bethany Manor and Timberland Village.

She is survived by two sons, Tony (Kristine) Orcutt of Windsor Heights and Brian Orcutt of Denver, Colorado; two daughters, Elizabeth Orcutt-Kroeger of Ames and Mary (Jim) Harmon of Lino Lakes, Minnesota; seven grandchildren: Teryn (Brian), Kevin (Noemi), Lauren (Ryan), Megan, Allison, Samuel and Thomas (TJ); four great-grandchildren: Eva, Euan, Lukas and Millie; her brother David, her sister-in-law Maurine Hudson, and many nephews and nieces.

Grace was proceded in death by her husband, Duane, her parents, her sister Geraldine McDonald, brothers Charles and Duncan, and her son-in-law, Dennis Kroeger.

Grace has donated her body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. Her ashes will be interred at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Youth Ministry at Grace United Methodist Church.
