Robert E. Swenson passed away July 12, 2013 in Sun City West, Arizona at the age of 86. Bob was born in Hamilton County, Iowa on March 23, 1927 to Hallie and Elsie (Holland) Swenson, Sr. He graduated from high school in Roland and received a degree in Education from Iowa State University. He taught shop, designed tools, did highway work in Alaska, and worked for a tractor company before becoming a civil servant in the Department of Defense, doing logistics and teaching classes on negotiating government bureaucracy. He married his wife, Beatrice on May 10, 1952. His civil service career took them to several locations including New Mexico and Tennessee. After retiring, they spent time in Tennessee, Virginia, and Arizona. He was a member of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West. He golfed, went bowling, and had a smile for everyone.

Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bea Swenson; sons Dan Swenson of Phoenix, Arizona and Jon (Christina) of Yorktown, Virignia, and daughter Ann (Tom) of Athens, Georgia; six grandchildren and one great-granchild; sister Ramona (Swenson) McKee of Des Moines, Iowa; brother Eldon (Lettie) Swenson of Mequon, Wisconsin; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Hallie Swenson, Jr.

A Celebration of Life service was held August 3, 2013 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West, Arizona. Memorial contributions may be made to the church at 13724 W. Meeker Blvd., Sun City West, AZ 85375 or to a charity of your choice.
