Affordables, Bethany Life Foundation’s retail store, located in at 603 Pennsylvania in Story City, recently presented a check for $40,000 to Bethany Manor, Inc. in support of the renovation of Sampson Court at Bethany Manor. Sampson Court, formerly known as the East Wing, was renamed in honor of Olive Sampson of Story City for a generous gift she gave, which allowed for this renovation to take place. The renovation is expected to be completed by mid-October.
Affordables is a general merchandise and retail store that accepts and sells donated items, and also sells truckloads of "big box" and online specialty store merchandise at significantly reduced prices. These items include overstock, shelf pulls, returns and "scratch and dent" items. The assortment of merchandise at Affordables ranges from furniture to clothing, books to housewares, sporting goods to tools and more. It has been in existence since 2005.
Bethany Life is a non-profit aging services organization with a full continuum of services including rehabilitation, specialized dementia care, assisted and independent living, and home and community based services. Bethany Life will be celebrating its 100 years of ministry in 2014.
Affordables is operated by over 40 volunteers from throughout the area who are committed to supporting the mission of Bethany Life.
