The Story City Greater Chamber Connection and Economic Development Corporation Annual Meeting/Dinner was held on Friday, February 21st, 2014 at Carousel Lanes in Story City. Attendance was recorded with over 100 Partners and/or Volunteers present. The welcome speech was given by GCC President Rick Shreier, followed by the Invocation by Pastor Stephen Anenson. A pork dinner was prepared by Carousel Lanes and served by volunteers from the Jr. Class Prom.
The annual meeting followed the meal with lively entertainment by Sister Act, a vocal group from the South Hamilton area.
The Annual meeting began with the recognition of the GCC board which included new Director John Hall and new Assistant Director Natalie Johnson.
The GCC awarded the 2013/2014 Volunteers of the Year to Bill Sjulin and Karen Hermanson, co-chairs of the GCC Antique Carousel.
This past year the GCC also saw the successful completion of the new light poles, directional signage, the new welcome signs on each end of Broad Street, a new webpage, Norsemen Flags, and celebrated 100 years of the Antique Carousel.
The 2013 EDC accomplishments for the year included the community tours of Record Printing and KMJ Performance, Trivia Nights, and partnership formed for future spec Building in I-35 Development Park.
The City Report was given by City Administrator Mark Jackson and featured future projects of Story City.
Special thanks to the GCC and EDC Boards for all they do, Carousel Lanes for the use of their facilities, the R-S High School students for serving dinner, PDG Printing for printing the invites and programs, Story City Floral for all the table decorations and Cyclone Engraving for the awards.
