What has happened to the respect for loved ones’ gravesites? I just stopped the other day to check again on my father’s and grandparents’ gravesites at the Story City Cemetery and once again items have been stolen. Has society gone to the dogs? Do parents not teach their kids, or young adults, to respect the items that people have left in memory of their loved ones?
To date, since January, there have been four solar angels, two solar dragonflies, two garden flags and poles and various floral arrangements stolen from my father’s and grandparents’ graves. It is disrespectful and unbelievable that people see fun in taking from loved ones in a cemetery! I hope whoever has been taking these items, that some day their items are taken as well, and that they will feel just as upset as I am.
I am saddened because what was placed on their graves had meaning to us as a family. Obviously something the person(s) who took these items would not know. I’m asking people out there to RESPECT the items that others have left for loved ones. There is meaning and love left with those items!
