The 9th annual McFarland Clinic Turkey Food Drive kicked off on Friday, December 6th. McFarland Clinic and the 2013 Turkey rallied together to benefit those in need this holiday season. The Story City office donated 375 items and an additional monetary donation to Loaves and Fishes.

The Turkey Food Drive is a McFarland Clinic Story County tradition. Each year a provider or staff member is voted or self elected to be the Turkey. This year’s turkey was Chris Johnson, MD, a Pathologist.

Clinical and non-clinical departments were challenged this year to see who would have the highest percentage increase from their 2012 totals of food items donated. This was the first year Story City participated. Dr. Johnson and his volunteers stopped at every department and collected items to take to MICA.

"You could really tell the departments were excited about the food drive. It was a fun day for everyone involved and resulted in an enormous donation to MICA. The clinic really rallied together to support those in need," said Marcia Kent, PR Coordinator at McFarland Clinic.

The McFarland Clinic Turkey Food Drive is held every December. For more information please contact, Marcia Kent at (515) 239-4705.
