Story City has an exciting weekend planned. Make 2013 the year that you take part in Story City’s STORY! Festival! Story City community volunteers are putting the finishing touches on a very entertaining event that promises to provide fun and to boost interest in Story City. The Story! Festival committee with the support of volunteers and community businesses will hold the annual Story! Festival on September 20, 21 and 22. "Dinner and a Story" Friday night and the "Story Market" on Saturday are just a couple of our featured activities during this year’s Festival. You will never know what you have been missing until you attend. "Dinner and a Story" will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Story City Community Center at 503 Elm Ave. Chef Chris Hansen will create a delicious dinner as you are entertained with stories by Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre Company and Lance Mack as Abraham Lincoln. Stories are free, rides cost $1.00. Those who attended Dinner and a Story will be treated to a free ride at the Haunted Carousel Stories. Please also join us at the "Story Market" from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Penn Avenue just north of Broad St. In the event of inclement weather, we will relocate to the Community Center on Elm Ave. The Story Market will have a variety of vendors including: food, crafts, coffee, home based businesses, and antiques. The Story Festival! has several other features that you will want to check out on Facebook or call the GCC office.

The Story City GCC strives to make Story City an incredible place to live and to do business. We promote a combination of economic development, business promotion and old fashioned family fun. We have several items that you will want to put on your calendar. You will want to take advantage of the EDC Industry Tour on October 15 as a local industrial partner opens its doors to the community, more details to follow. Fun is just around the corner with the Halloween Party at the Carousel Lanes on the evening of October 19. Make sure that you bring the children, grandchildren and friends and family to Downtown Trick or Treating on October 31. The EDC will host their EDC Trivia Night on November 1. Come out to support the EDC and play for your favorite charity. The annual Yulefest Tree Lighting / Fire Station Chili Supper will be the evening of November 29.

The Story City Greater Chamber Connection is completely dependent on your support, otherwise known as "partnership," to operate. The GCC can be contacted at (515) 733-4214. We encourage everyone to become a GCC partner. The GCC is Story City’s central connection to focus the energy of residents to volunteer or contribute to a wide variety of community projects and events including downtown preservation and Antique Carousel operations to make Story City a vibrant place to live for young and old. As part of our motto of "Making It All Happen" in Story City, the GCC also periodically collaborates with other community organizations such as the Historical Society to assist their fundraising or the Kiwanis Club to spread their message of supporting Story City’s children’s organizations. Your support is what makes it all happen.
