Brittany Phillips, of Story City, recently received a Distinguished Service Award from Youth and Shelter Services and the Attorney General’s office.

Phillips was recognized for her courage after transitioning from trafficking victim at age 15 to survivor and statewide spokesperson in the fight against human trafficking.

As an outstanding spokesperson for minors caught in forced sexual exploitation, Phillips speaks at churches, service clubs and conferences.

For three years, she has been an active member of YSS’s Achieving Maximum Potential program, leading the legislative fight to improve Iowa’s human trafficking laws."
