Amanda Evanson of Williams was awarded a $500 scholarship from the Scott and Vicki Saienga Excellence in Nursing Family Fund. The Saienga family lives in Story City, IA. Scott is a Production Manager at MBS Seed and Vicki is a Registered Nurse.
The Excellence in Nursing Fund is managed by the Bethany Life Foundation of Story City with scholarships awarded to employees who have shown a commitment to serving the elderly and in advancing their nursing education. Amanda has been a Certified Nursing and Medication Aid for 7 years and is going to nursing school at Iowa Central Community College. Kari Matheason, VP of Clinical Services at Bethany Life described Amanda as a "phenomenal employee who is extremely hard working and reliable".
Scott’s interest in the Bethany Life Foundation’s Excellence in Nursing Fund comes from his family’s strong value of higher education and also from his personal experience of witnessing his father’s struggle with dementia. "We need to do what we can to support the ongoing education of Bethany’s employees, especially in regards to dementia care. We are very pleased to help Amanda reach her academic goals. She is certainly worthy of our support." Scott is a current member of the Bethany Life Foundation Board of Directors.
