Roland-Story took the lead late and defeated Saydel 5-4 on Monday, June 25. The game was tied at two with the Norsemen batting in the bottom of the sixth when Saydel’s pitcher uncorked a wild pitch, scoring two runs.
Saydel took an early lead in the first inning. With two outs in the first inning Boehler drove in one run when he singled.
Saydel knotted the game up at two in the top of the third inning. Porter drove in one when he singled in the third inning.
Jake Ford led Roland-Story with two hits in two at bats.
The Norsemen defeated Nevada 9-1 on Friday, June 23, after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at one with Roland-Story batting in the top of the ninth when Nathan Bell homered off of Matuska, driving in one run.
Roland-Story secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the ninth inning. The Norsemen’s big inning was driven by a home run by Nathan Bell, a walk, a single by Dylan Matheason, a double by Jake Ford and a single.
Nevada knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the seventh inning. An error scored one run for Nevada.
Ford and Matheason each drove in two runs to lead Roland-Story.
Vs. North Polk in doubleheader
Roland-Story watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 4-0 loss to North Polk on Wednesday, June 21. North Polk took the lead on a single in the second inning.
North Polk took an early lead in the second inning. Johnson drove in one when he singled in the second inning.
One bright spot for the Norsemen was a single by Caleb Schlatter in the first inning.
Colby Gray, Schlatter and Nick Stole each managed one hit to lead Roland-Story.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Roland-Story fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 10-0 loss. North Polk took the lead on a single in the first inning.
A single by Landon Greiner in the fifth inning was a positive for Roland-Story.
Greiner went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead the Norsemen in hits.
Vs. Greene County
The Norsemen fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 1-0 loss to Greene County on Monday, June 19. Greene County took the lead on a single in the first inning.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Greene County pitchers struck out 11, while Roland-Story sat down 10.
Greene County captured the lead in the first inning.
A single by Jake Ford in the first inning was a positive for the Norsemen.
Wilkens earned the win for Greene County. He pitched seven innings, surrendering zero runs, five hits and striking out 11. Ford took the loss for Roland-Story. He went five innings, surrendering one run, four hits and striking out seven.
Roland-Story collected five hits. Landon Greiner and Zach Shadlow each collected two hits for Roland-Story. The Norsemen were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Nick Stole had the most chances in the field with 10.
