With the Eagles from Saydel coming to town, the Roland-Story softball team was eyeing a six-game win streak. To get the sixth win they would have to shut down the Eagle’s offense.

Coach Amber Doyle had the answer in junior pitcher, Hailey Louw, who kept the Eagles off balance throughout the game. Louw pitched 6 2/3 inning giving up two runs and allowing four hits. Sydney Mathis closed out the game getting a ground ball to shortstop Susie Weaver to end the game.

When asked how she feels on the mound, Louw said, “When I’m on the mound I try to locate pitches and get routine ground balls and pop flies and when the defense plays as well as they did tonight we have a good chance of winning.”

Norse wasted little time getting on the board. In the bottom of the first inning Susie Weaver doubled to center and scored on a single from Louw. Jenna Clark delivered a single scoring Louw. Mathis stepped up with a double scoring Clark to put the Norse up 3-0. The Norsemen scored one more run in the third inning when Louw scored on a fielder’s choice.
