The Roland-Story girls’ cross country team placed sixth, with 159 points, at the state qualifying meet at Central College in Pella on Thursday, Oct. 19.


Top-ranked Mid-Prairie won with 25 points, No. 5 Williamsburg finished second with 73 points and Prairie City-Monroe was the final qualifying team with 89 points.


The Norse girls had one runner come up one spot shy of making state. Kylie Tjernagel finished 16th in 22:13.5, trailing the 15th-place time of Williamsburg’s Kaitlin Wille by 12.2 seconds.
