The Norsemen boys’ cross country team placed fourth at the state qualifying meet at Central College in Pella on Thursday, Oct. 19.


Roland-Story came up just short of making state in the 2A boys’ race, but the Norsemen did advance one runner to state, junior Nick Wakefield, who took 12th with a time of 17:59.6.


“It’s my first at it and this was a big goal for me,” Wakefield said. “It was a big goal.”


Collin Greenfield finished just short of making state, with a 16th place and a time of 18:13.5.


Roland-Story finish fourth with 113 points. Second-ranked Mid-Prairie won the 2A boys’ race at Pella with 23 points, No. 15 Des Moines Christian took second with 67 and No. 5 Williamsburg came in third with a score of 80.
