Five Roland-Story students participated in the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association color guard solo competition. The ISDTA solo competition was held at Newton High School on Friday, Nov. 3.
Roland-Story competed in the small school color guard class. A total of 56 contestants competed from all of Iowa in the small color guard class.
The Roland-Story students competing in the contest included Anika DeWald, Lauren Hansen, Theresa Haskin, Emily Stewar, and Anne Wilgenbusch. All five R-S students received Division 1 ratings.
The top seven overall students received trophies in each class. This is the first year that Roland-Story had three students receive trophies. They were Lauren Hansen, third place; Anne Wilgenbusch, fifth place; and Theresa Haskin, sixth place.
Hansen, Wilgenbusch and Haskin, along with the other trophy winners, will have their picture in the program for the ISDTA team competition. The ISDTA team competition was held on Thursday, Nov. 30, and Friday, Dec. 1. Color guard director is Jennifer Masemann.
